Females–Low Testosterone. Has anyone had this?
Cindi W asked:
My doctor did a hormone level check after I had complained about low sex drive, gaining wt and exercising–but not building any muscles. My testosterone level was below 10. In addition, I have hypothryroidism.

He treated it with a pellet injected into the muscle and said that I should start experiencing changes over the next few months.
Has anyone ever been diagnosed with this. When the testosterone returns to a normal level–how will it effect me? I am afraid of growing facial hair and developing acne.

yes i did..you will not grow facial hair unless they give you the dose of testosterone for a mans system they are going to bring you up to the normal level for a female and you should see your sex drive go back to normal
Wow! Actually… I have some of your same symptoms (except the thyroid problem) and have high testosterone!
I would personally recommend a good competent ND to do another hormone analysis and then let them give you supplements to correct your hormones naturally. Who knows what’s in that garbage they give you – it might be synthetic – or it might be from something like a horse (which they usually get from horse urine). Then the testerone and hopefully the hypothyroidism will take care of itself, if you don’t have a genetic defect in your thyroid. Also, you should really consider high quality natural hand creams and shampoos. A lot of the cheap and chemical based stuff typically has synthetic progesterone in it, and that WILL mess with your hormones. Plus it won’t show up on hormone tests and will act like it’s low then some will want to prescribe it which just causes more synthetic to be stored in fat deposits. My wife, an ND, says transdermal is bad, sub-cutaneous (under tongue) is best, but only a high quality natural source. Dr. Janet Lang (actually a chiropractor) is one of the best experts on hormones I’ve heard of (I think she’s at drjlang.com). But I don’t think she even sees people – she only consults for NDs and chiropractors at something like $50 per half hour. And she doesn’t prescribe drugs – it’s all natural.
Your body will naturally have both estrogen & testosterone. This is perfectly normal. In order for you to get facial hair growth you testosterone levels would have to be significantly higher.
There are patched & tablets also designed to provide you with a low level of testosterone specifically for the task he has provided you with.
Also during puberty, your body converts some excess estrogen to testosterone causing girls to get spots, for example.
